Operation Moonlight

Jordan, near the Iraq border. Of course, this has nothing to do with Iraq, Jordanian Prime Minister Ali Abu Ragheb said. This had been planned before. Yet a month ago they were adamant that no US incursion would involve Jordan.

"Jordan seeks to balance between brotherly and economic relations with Iraq and strategic relations with the United States, Abu Ragheb told a news conference on Monday.

Jordan is a weak country so they have to be craftier than most. As I wrote months ago, their hardline against the US was to keep their own fringe radicals, funded by Iraq, from bombing them into oblivion while the US made its plans. Now we are seeing the gradual shift. Expect more denials from Jordan. The stronger and more frequent they get, the sooner the attack.
