Things Get Hotter For Arafat



His last rambling, disjointed press conference has given his detractors some confidence. He narrowly avoided a no-confidence vote and was forced to disband his cabinet and schedule elections.

Most dictators would have no problem squelching the opposition but Arafat has insisted every country in the world send people in to monitor Israel so he can't ignore the democratic process.

Once he is gone there may be a real opportunity for peace.
