379th Air Expeditionary Wing Moves To Qatar

Amid all the juggling of U.S. forces in the Persian Gulf, one move stands out. The 379th Air Expeditionary Wing --- a self-contained small air force of fighters, bombers, reconnaissance and electronic warfare planes with its own communications net --- is being shifted to Al-Udeid airbase in Qatar. The 379th will continue to support operations in Afghanistan, but it now looks far better placed for a future role over Iraq.
