Syria Rejects Sharon Stipulations For Syrian Involvement In Peace Negotitations

Israel laid out eight conditions that Damascus would have to meet if it wished to join a regional peace conference proposed by Sharon. They were: (1)That Syria should expel 11 "terrorist organizations" operating on its territories; (2)deport Iranian Revolutionary Guards from Lebanon; (3)prevent arms shipments to and halt assistance to Hezbollah; (4)allow the deployment of the Lebanese Army on the border with Israel;(5) dismantle Hezbollah infrastructure;(6) end Syria's presence in Lebanon; and offer information to Israel about its (7)prisoners and (8) missing.

Syrian Vice-President Abdel Halim Khaddam said Tuesday that Sharon's conditions for allowing Syria to attend a proposed regional conference mean that peace is impossible.

Which parts are holding things up, Abdel? 1,2,3 and 5, stopping terrorism? 4 and 6, getting out of Lebanon? Or 7 and 8, letting Israelis know about their POWs and MIAs?
